So, today we are so happy to introduce you to Megan Payne, owner and master makeup artist of Makeup in the 702. Megan is no stranger to our blog and we are always so happy when we get to work with her. You might recall, she did my makeup for our own portrait session earlier this year! She also chose me to photograph her new headshots, which is such a compliment! We just love everything about Megan. She is so sweet, professional, and just a joy to be around. I love talking with her every chance I get.

Q. How long have you been in business and what made you get started in it?
A. Makeup in the 702 is entering 8 glorious years! After years of working for major brands in Chicago, I knew it was time to branch out and spread the gospel of beautiful enhancing makeup, despite brand.
Q. What’s one thing that everyone should know about you?
A. My life’s motto- “I’m here to make the world a more beautiful place, one face at a time”
Q. What’s your favorite thing about owning your own business?
A. I enjoy the freedom of choice vs the corporate world.
Q. Where do you go to find inspiration?
A. Everywhere- Music, TV, Broadway, books, art, even a sunset.
Q. What’s your least favorite thing about owning your own business?
A. Staying on top of technology- even Facebook changes every quarter.
Q. How do you find balance between life and work?
A. Still searching, but isn’t everyone?
Q. What profession other than your own would you/have you attempted?
A. That’s a funny question. I went to school to be a fashion designer, only to realize I don’t like to sew- Fail!
Q. If you were given $500 today, what would be the first thing you would do?
A. Buy new shoes….
Q. Where do you see your business in 5 years?
A. Same direction- “it’s me only on my most beautiful day”, but I would like to employ 10 hair & makeup artist on a full time basis. I like knowing that I help others reach for their dreams in the industry as well.
Q. If you had an entire Saturday to do whatever you wanted…what would you do?
A. fly to Chicago to be with my family.
